Facebook Comment Responses
1. Introduction
Definition
Facebook comment responses is a Leeloo.AI feature within AI Support that automatically sends a messenger message to a user who comments on a post or reel on your public Facebook page. Used during the Attract and Engage stages — it turns a public comment into a personal dialogue.
The module reads from connected communication channels (Facebook page in Communication Channels) and is tied to the «Smart response» LGT type. When triggered, it creates a subscription through the LGT and records the event in the Client's Card.
The B2B operator (marketer, SMM specialist or content manager) configures trigger posts, keywords, response texts and the LGT for subscription. Optionally, they can enable an AI Assistant that generates personalised replies to comments.
The B2C client (the post commenter) does not see any technical details: they post a comment → receive a message in Facebook Messenger → reply to it → automatically get subscribed to a tunnel.
The Client's Card stores: the communication channel (Facebook Messenger), the subscription source (the «Smart response» LGT of that post), and the time of first contact. All subsequent activity within the tunnel is attributed to this source.
After reading you will understand:
what Facebook comment responses are and why this automation matters;
how to connect a Facebook page to the platform via AI Support;
how to add a post to the response system and configure a trigger;
how to configure different responses based on keywords in the comment;
how to enable the AI Assistant to generate replies;
how to test the automatic responses.
Purpose
Facebook comment responses are the primary cold lead-capture mechanism from FB publications. They turn public reach into a personal subscriber base, attributed to a specific post or campaign.
Attract — automatic conversion of commenters into messenger subscribers. The job — capture leads from organic and paid Facebook reach without manual work by a manager.
Engage — different responses by keywords segment commenters by interest at the very first touchpoint. The job — segment the new audience by interest and subscribe them to a relevant tunnel.
2. Setup overview
Setup is split into three steps: connecting the Facebook page, adding the trigger post, and configuring response groups with keywords.
2.1. Preparation — connecting the Facebook page
Before configuring automatic responses, connect your Facebook business page to the platform. Open Settings → Integrations → Messengers and add your Facebook page. For details on connecting a page, refer to the messengers integrations guide.
Open Settings → Integrations → Messengers and add your Facebook page. For more details, refer to the dedicated integrations guide.
2.2. Open the «Facebook Comment Responses» section
In the «AI Support» section, hover your mouse over the «Automation Responses» tab and select «Facebook Comment Responses».
2.3. Add a post
In the opened tab, click the «+» button in the «Facebook posts» section.
Select the Facebook page from the list of pages connected to the platform.
2.4. Choose a publication
A list of posts from the selected page will appear, including the creation date of each post.
Integrations — select your Facebook page.
Post type — select the type of post for which you will configure the automatic response.
Publication — choose a post from the list, or paste the post's URL into the field and click «Select».
2.5. Post title and response text
Enter the post title (1). By default it matches the post text, which usually exceeds the character limit of the field, so shorten it.
Enter the response to the comment (2).
Click the «Submit» button.
2.6. Configure subscription via LGT
A response group will appear within the selected publication. This group contains the message that will be sent by default when the post is commented on.
If needed, edit the message text (1).
To subscribe the user to a tunnel, enter the name of an LGT of type «Smart response» and select the lead generation tool. The user will be automatically subscribed when they reply to the message in field (1).
2.7. AI Assistant (optional)
You can also enable your AI Assistant so that it automatically replies to comments instead of sending the standard response message.
3. How it works
To test the automatic responses to comments on your publication:
Comment on the post for which you created the automatic reply as a different user (not from the public page).
You will receive a message in your messenger — the one you specified in the «Response to the comment» field.
Reply to that message.
You will appear in the platform's CRM and will be subscribed to the tunnel linked to the selected LGT.
Test automatic replies only from a different Facebook account — comments posted from the public page itself do not trigger automation.
4. Different responses by keywords
You can add multiple messages that will be sent in response to a comment, depending on the keywords found in the comment text. To do this, create a new group by clicking the «Add new group» button.
Below the default response group (Default response group), a new empty response group will appear. Fill in its fields:
Group name (1) — enter a name for easy identification.
Keywords (2) — enter a list of keywords that, when found in a comment, will trigger the message from field (3). Press Enter after each keyword.
Response message (3) — enter the text that will be sent to the commenter.
LGT (4) — select the lead generation tool through which the user will be subscribed to a tunnel.
Example: if a comment contains greeting words such as «hello», «hi» or «good afternoon», the message «Hello» from field (3) will be sent to the commenter via messenger. If the commenter replies, they will be subscribed to the tunnel linked to the LGT in field (4). If no LGT is selected, the commenter will be subscribed to the default tunnel (the one configured in the platform settings).
If a keyword from a custom group is detected in a comment, the message from the «Default messages» group will not be sent.
4.1. Managing response groups
Deactivate the default response — the default response (Default response group) can be deactivated by toggling the switch (1). Then messages will only be sent from custom groups when a keyword is detected in the comment.
Delete a group — a custom group can be deleted by clicking the icon (2).
Remove a post — you can also remove all comment responses for a specific post by clicking the «Remove Facebook post» button (3).
Adding a response message for another Facebook post is done in the same way — go back to step 2.3 and follow the instructions.
