To create a Telegram bot, you need a Telegram account. If you don't have this account yet, create one at https://web.telegram.org/#/login.
If you have already created a Telegram bot, proceed to connecting the Telegram bot to the platform.
How to create a Telegram bot?
The steps in the instructions are performed in the desktop version of Telegram.
Follow the link http://telegram.me/botfather. A chat will open with BotFather - the “father of bots”. BotFather provides a menu for creating and managing Telegram bots. Click on the "Start" button at the bottom of the window to start the dialogue.
BotFather will send you a list of commands for creating and managing bots. We need to create a new bot, so we send it the command "/newbot":
3. BotFather asks what you want to name the bot. Give the bot a name and send it. The name can be either Latin or Cyrillic. This name can be changed later. We called the bot "Lila in Telegram":
Next, BotFather asks you to give the bot a nickname (username). The nickname must end with "bot". As a nickname, you are allowed to use only Latin letters, numbers and underscores. The minimum length of an alias is 5 characters. The nickname cannot be changed in the future.
Create a nickname for the bot and send it in a message. We gave the bot the nickname "LeelooInTelegramBot":
BotFather will send a bot token. Copy it:
This completes the creation of the Telegram bot. Next, you need to connect the bot to the platform.
How to connect a Telegram bot to the platform?
Go to the http://Leeloo.ai platform to the Settings → Integrations → Messengers section:
Click on "Add new connection":
In the window that opens, select the Telegram messenger.
In the window that appears, paste the copied token (1) and click the “Join” button (2):
Ready! Now you can connect this bot as a communication channel in the lead generation tools settings.
If, when adding a Telegram bot, it gives the error “This token is invalid, please insert another token”
Make sure there are no spaces before or after the token. If there is, delete it and try to insert the token again.
Check if any special character has been added to the token, which is invisible and causes a conflict when saving the token. You can check by opening the developer tools (in Google Chrome Ctrl+Shift+I) and pasting the token into the “Console” tab. If, in addition to the token symbols, there is also a red dot, it means a special symbol has been added. Delete it and paste the rest of the text into the token field in the bot adding settings. If there is no red dot, generate a new token. To do this, open a chat with BotFather in Telegram, enter the /token command and send a message with this command. After this, you will be asked to select a bot. After selecting the bot, you will receive a message with a new token. Copy this token and try to connect again in the Telegram connection settings.
