Email template builder
1. Introduction
Definition
Email template builder is the visual layout and email template editor in Leeloo.AI that the business uses to assemble email messages for the Email communication channel. Email is one of the platform's communication channels, so the builder is involved at the Engage, Manage and Retain stages. It is the core tool for preparing campaign content: the business assembles an email from ready-made blocks — text, images, buttons, tables and menus — while the subscriber receives a fully formatted email in their mail client.
The builder does not exist on its own — it is connected to other entities of the platform: the Email communication channel, Smart Sender and the message blocks in Sales Tunnels, from which the created layouts are sent to subscribers. A finished template is used as content both for one-off campaigns and for automated message sequences.
The B2B operator (business owner, marketer or content manager) creates and edits layouts in the "Library → Email Layouts" section: they set the layout name and email subject, drag blocks into the body of the email, configure their content and styling, add variables and the unsubscribe button, and then save the layout for future campaigns.
The B2C client (subscriber) receives the finished email in their inbox — they see the formatted content with personalized variable values and the unsubscribe button, but they do not see the builder itself or the technical details of how the layout was assembled.
The Client's Card records the fact and history of emails sent via the Email channel, as well as the client's subscription status — including an unsubscribe performed through the "Unsubscribe" button.

Purpose
The email template builder is a content preparation tool for the Email communication channel. It lets you assemble a formatted email once and reuse it across campaigns without manual coding. The builder's specific function in business processes depends on the stage of the customer lifecycle at which the email is sent.
Engage — emails introduce a new subscriber to the brand: a welcome series, a lead magnet, warm-up content delivered by email right after subscription. The job — to engage the audience in further interaction with the brand through the email channel.
Manage — emails accompany the client through the workflow: notifications, order statuses, informational and service messages personalized through variables. The job — to maintain structured communication with the client at the right stage of the funnel.
Retain — emails win back and retain the client: regular campaigns, digests, special offers across the subscriber base. The job — to retain the client and encourage repeat actions while keeping an easy way to unsubscribe.
2. Overview of the builder
The builder is located in the "Library → Email Layouts" section. In this section you can both create a new layout and import an existing one.
2.1. Toolbar / importing a layout
If you already have ready-made solutions in the form of email layouts, you can import them to the platform to create future campaigns.
Layout Name — a field to enter the name of your email layout. It helps organize and quickly find the necessary layout among others.
Email Subject — a field to enter the subject of the email, which will be displayed to the recipient in their mail client.
Add Files from Device — a function for uploading files that will be used in the email layout (e.g., images, documents).
Delete All Layout Information — a button to completely delete the current layout content. Use it carefully, as data recovery will not be possible.
Add Additional File — allows you to upload additional files to expand the layout or add new content.
Layout Preview — a feature to preview the finished email layout. You can see how it will look for the recipient before sending.
Save — a button to save all changes made to the layout. It is recommended to click it regularly to avoid data loss.
2.2. Creating an email layout
When creating a new layout, you have access to a panel of blocks from which the email is assembled.
HTML — allows you to insert custom HTML code for creating unique elements or additional content customization.
Button — adds an interactive button to the page. You can change the text, background color, and font of the button.
Image — allows you to upload and insert an image. You can adjust the size and position.
Separator — adds a horizontal line to visually separate different content blocks.
Text — allows you to insert text content. Formatting options such as font, style, and color are available.
Heading — inserts a heading of different levels (from H1 to H6) to organize content hierarchy on the page.
Social Media — adds social media icon links. You can customize the links and display style.
Menu — creates a navigation menu with links. You can adjust the order and style of the elements.
Table — inserts a standard table to present data in a structured way. You can customize its design.
Table with Elements — an advanced table type that allows inserting other elements (images, buttons, etc.) into the cells.
Content Settings — a tool for customizing block content: alignment, padding, style.
Block Settings — allows you to modify block parameters such as size, background color, or borders.
Text Settings — a tool for text formatting: font selection, style, color, or line spacing.
Continue — a button for moving to the next process step or page.
Preview — a feature to see how your page or elements will look in the final version before publishing changes.
In the email builder, you can create a button that completely stops the communication channel with a client when clicked. This button, using the special "Unsubscribe" link, not only cancels campaigns but also blocks any further messages from being sent to that client. After it is clicked, you will need to manually restore the connection if the client wishes to receive notifications again.
At the top of the page you can preview your layout using the "PC", "Tablet" and "Mobile Device" buttons:
After clicking the "Continue" button, you will proceed to the final stage of setting up and creating the email layout.
Layout Name — a field to enter the name of your email layout. This helps organize and quickly find the necessary layout among others.
Email Subject — a field to enter the subject of the email, which will be displayed to the recipient in their mail client.
Change Variable Format — a function for configuring or modifying the format of variables used in the layout (e.g., name or date personalization).
Final Layout Preview — the ability to see how your email layout will look for the recipient. This allows you to check the design and functionality before sending.
Save Layout — a button to save all changes made to the current layout. It is recommended to save changes regularly to avoid data loss.
Return to Layout List — a function for exiting the current layout and going back to the general list of created layouts.
Return to Layout Editing — a button to return to the layout editing mode after preview or another action.
After successfully creating and saving the email layout, you will be able to see it in the "Library" section:
2.3. Variables in email messages
In emails, you can define values that may change — that is, set variables. To do this, you need to:
In the body of the email, write the variable you want to set.
In the "Variables" field, when saving or when clicking "Find Variables", the values will be pulled in from the text.
In the "Default Value" field, you specify the value that will be substituted for the variable.
Then, if you need to change this value, you do not change the template — you simply change the variable's default value.
As for standard variables like {name} and others, you can simply add them to the body of the message.
2.4. Unsubscribe button
The "Unsubscribe" button in your email template allows recipients to automatically opt out of further email campaigns via the current communication channel. This ensures compliance with email marketing regulations and gives users a simple way to manage their subscriptions.
How to add the "Unsubscribe" button to an email template in Leeloo.ai
Add a button to your email template:
In the email editor, drag and drop a "Button" block to the desired place in the template.Select the button:
